Willie Cecil Johnson

Willie Cecil Johnson of 113 Terrace Lane passed away on December 23, 2017. He was the sixth of eight children born to the late Richard Lee and Carrie Lee Johnson on January 17, 1949, in Anderson, South Carolina.
He attended Westside High School and later received a GED. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1972 and re-enlisted in 1974. His place of entry into active duty was Atlanta, Ga.  While in the military, Willie served in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Fort Benning, Georgia, Key West, Florida and Honolulu Hawaii. He achieved the rank of Sergeant(E-5), the Rifle expert badge; Good Conduct Medal; Navy /Marine Corps PRCHT Insignia; Navy Scuba Insignia; NCO Leadership Crs 7507; and a Small Unit Leader. 
After serving 9 years in the military, he received an Honorable Discharge. He then became a resident of Honolulu, and later Oahu, Hawaii.
Willie relocated to Anderson in the 1990s. He was employed as a security guard, he managed his own landscape business and was employed as Sexton for St. Paul Baptist Church.
Willie was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church where he served as Junior Trustee, President of the Usher board and the church sexton. He was dependable and loved by his church family.
God called him home on December 23, 2017 at the Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. Willie is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Carrie Holland Johnson, a sister Betty Johnson Rice and brothers Little Richard and Theodore Van Johnson, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his great memories three sons: Dolinsky Fritzgerald Rice of Greenville, SC,  Delaccye K. (Shirley) Rice of Simpsonville, SC and Willie Cecil Johnson II of Honolulu, HI; two daughters: Kshatriyas Alisa Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Christine Johnson of Honolulu, HI; four granddaughters: Fricretia L. Rice, Lacretia R. Rice, Delexiss S. (Brandon) McCluney, and Laquanta S. Dennis; two grandsons: Dolinsky Rice, Jr., and Jordan A. Wallace; one great-grandson, Kaison Gillard. One sister: Patricia (Moses) Morris; three brothers: Herbert (Betty) Johnson, George ( Marilyn) Johnson and Connie Lee Johnson. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that he loved deeply.
