Barbara Ann Mills, 66, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She was born on May 14, 1958, in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Robert Childs and Sadie Mae Wilson Jefferson.
Barbara was a woman of deep faith, dedication, and compassion. She grew up in a Christian home, which laid the foundation for her lifelong devotion to God and service to others. An ordained minister for eight years, Barbara was passionate about spreading love, kindness, and the teachings of Christ to everyone she met
Barbara was a lifelong learner, earning a master’s degree in theology and counseling, and a dual bachelor’s degree in theology and divinity. In addition, she received a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry from Clark Atlanta University, reflecting her intellectual curiosity and commitment to education.
Barbara’s generosity and caring nature extended beyond her academic and ministerial pursuits. She was known for her giving spirit and her willingness to help others in times of need. Her love and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she enriched.
Barbara is survived by a loving brother, Charles R. Childs (Auneaka Simmons); Nieces, Briana Childs and Brenesha Garrett (Caprice Garrett); Nephew, Charles Childs, Jr., and a community of family and friends who will remember her as a devoted servant of God, a passionate advocate for education, and a truly loving and giving person.
