Floree Mathes

Mrs. Floree Ward Mathes entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Condor Nursing Home.  She was born in Starr, SC on April 13, 1936, to the late Jackson Ward and Rosena Hall Ward.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Wilmington, DE.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She took pride in taking care of her family and friends.

Floree was married to Clyde Dillard Mathes for 47 years.  She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Rena Jewell Mathes Goode; six grandchildren: Julius D.A. Williams, Clyde A. Williams, Claudius A. Williams, James D. Bond, Joshua I. Bond and Keenya K. Bond; six great-grandchildren: Julasha K. Williams, Priya A. Benson, Brooklynn A. Williams, Clyde A. Williams, Zaiden A. Smith and Kaizer Williams.  She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Louis Harris of Anderson, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Dillard Mathes; her son, Clyde Dillard “Petie” Mathis Jr.; her daughter, Lisa M. Bond; granddaughter, Sabrina M. Bond; Brothers, Rev. J. C. Ward and Fred Clinkscales; Sisters: Alberta Ward, Bernice Barnard, and Gracie B. Fleming
