Mary Ann Wiley McCrery

Mary McCrery was born in Anderson, South Carolina on June 23rd, 1960 to Jake and Catherine Wiley, both of whom she is now united with in heaven. Mary was raised, loved and cared for by Catherine Annette Wiley, Essie Wiley Moore,  Eugene Calvin Moore, Harvey Wiley, Timothy Wiley, Priscilla Wiley, Peggye Elaine Wiley, and Thurmond Wiley. While she resided in Anderson she was also a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church.
Mary married Robert Lee McCrery on  December 30th, 1985 in Junction City, Kansas. Together they raised their 3 children: LaKeitra Matt, Adrienne Wiley and Christopher Wiley. In addition to her roles as a military wife and devoted mother, Mary owned and operated Heart's Desire Boutique. She also committed her time to studying and writing poetry. Several of her poems were published in various poetry magazines.
Mary was the faithful grandmother of Giovonne Counts, Jashaun Matt, Brianna Matt and Daniel Frederick. She also leaves behind 7 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews and countless friends whose lives she touched.
Wings
I want to fly
Over the steepest hills
Above the highest mountain peaks
Across unsowed fields
Over blue oceans deep
I want to fly away
I want to feel the wind beneath my wings
As for once I look down on everything-
To feel soft clouds
Brush against my cheeks
Oh! how awesome it would be
If I could only fly away
I long to float on a breeze
Like a wind blown sheet
And watch as my cares
Drift away from me-
To chat with birds in flight
And dance in the heavens
Never again to touch earthly things
But I must remain grounded for now-
I have to earn my wings.
